We have been so busy the last few days, then when you get home at night, at say 10:00pm it’s bed time as you are buggered, so no time for blogging……
During the past 4 days and nights we have explored Hamburg as much as we can, traveling on trains to every nook & cranny, places we remember from long ago & obviously many places that are new or have changed dramatically over the past years.
Monday we walked into Hamburg Centro, waterfront area, had lunch at a newly renovated, restored warehouse building that had become a design centre, all very modern furniture pieces & a great cafe / restaurant place. We then walked around the waterfront and went down into the old Elbe tunnel, we walked through this tunnel 45 years ago, at one stage it was the only way to get over the Elbe river, now there is a 6 lane tunnel & a huge bridge linking both sides. We , went to St Michaels Church, we then continued on down into the city area & accidently came to the main government building , Hamburg Rathaus & in front of it was set up about 20 German restaurant eating areas, all under cover, apparently this happens for 2 weeks at this time of year, summer.
