Today we left our home for the past 7 days in Barcelona, we really enjoyed it, great base for our exploring, thanks Mariana.. Caught a taxi down to the World Trade Centre cruise terminal at 11:00am and we were onboard not a half hour later, super efficient check in staff. The ship is beyond our expectations, being new & Scandinavian you would expect modern, clean & high tech, and that it is. The ship is fantastic, only 900 passengers all in balcony cabins and really a modern cruise ship. Only launched in 2015 she specifically is for the Mediterranean to Scandinaviua route, our cruise being called Passage through Western Europe. We are, as well as everyone else we chat to very impressed with the Viking Star. tonight we are eating at the chefs table to celebrate 46 years marriage ….. Phew !!!!!! One great thing about this ship as opposed to most other cruise lines you do not have to pay extra to dine in the ‘ speciality restaurants ‘, your lunch & dinner alcoholic drinks are included as is basic shore excursions …….. So let’s hope all goes good ………

Day 13 …. The next day we were still in Barcelona but onboard Viking Star, they have in every port of call a free excursion fo all guests, the one for today was interesting as it was to the Gothic quarter which we had missed in the past week, so off we went firstly on another bus trip around for an hour then a walking tour which ended up very informative as we had a Spanish guide, the day was very enjoyable….
Finally sailed out of Barcelona that evening & as it was our 46th anniversary we dined in the ‘ Chef’s Table ‘ restaurant, we had a very enjoyable meal matched with wine, it was very well done.
Day 14 …. Onboard … Sailing Todat towards Gibraltar so today we spent just relaxing onboard this pretty amazing ship.
Day 15. GIBRALTAR … We arrived in the morning around 8:00am & after breakfast boarded our bus to have a tour of this staunch British colony. Our driver / guide was a bit of a character and was very pro the Brits owning Gibraltar, why ? Because they do !!! It was a rainy day but that was not a problem on the bus, later we opted for a walk through town for a bit of a look, see …….. Around 1:30pm heading back to the ship as we had a 2:00pm departure…… Photos of Gibraltar below ……..
