We had a lay day on Thursday, it was a public holiday here in Bergen, not sure why ? Anyway just went for a local walk to look at the wooden houses in our local area, some dating back 300 years, there is a planned walk route which shows you all about them …. Was very interesting ……. On Friday we went around to Budget & picked up a small VW Golf for the next few days, one reason is to be able to drive to our next stay which is over on the island of Askoy, in a small town called Hetlevik, a small boathouse on the water, Rita thought it would be good to get out of the city for a few days before we get the train to Oslo on Tuesday.
We picked up the VW at 11:00am and after taking a couple of wrong turns, one making us drive through the city centre twice, we headed north to wherever ?? We put a town into google maps and off we went. To say the roads are narrow is an understatement here in semi rural Norway, they are one car wide with very small tar passing strips every few hundred mtrs, it is quite insane as people just stop and you crawl past each other, if you go off the side well you would be in trouble!!
We did just over 300 klms getting back home to our flat at 8:00pm ……. We reached some absolutely beautiful areas, saw snow & for probably the first time ever we saw a large fjord filled with very thin pack ice, was beautiful …… The days photos are below, most are taken by Rita here >>>>>>>>> All on iPhones …..
