This morning we left our really comfortable apartment in Oslo, would be easy to stay as it has been one of the best. We caught the tram into the Oslo Central railway station, not without mishap as we missed our stop & it took some time before we got back to our destination. Finally on arrival at the station we were told the first leg of our 1:00pm train to Goteburg was changed to a bus due to track maintenance, so we had to go by bus the first 2 hrs, arrived at a station half way to Goteburg and were transferred onto the train, arriving there at 5:00pm then having to wait until 6:30pm for the train to Stockholm, finally arriving at 9:30pm to a freezing city on the biggest night of the year, Eurovision……We soon realised why when we were booking our Stockholm apartment there was not a great deal of places available, maybe it was because of Eurovision week and weekend ……Caught a bus to our apartment and settled in to watch the final of Eurovision and the voting which had Dami Im from Oz ahead by miles then to be overtaken by Ukraine who was nowhere near as good as Dami, apparently a political decision slammed by Putin as Russia was meant to win …. Strange contest ….
Initial day arrival in Goteburg and Stockholm … Photos here >>>>>>>
Sunday morning we travelled into Stockholm city central for a look around and get our bearings, we had decided to purchase the Stockholm City Pass with the transport option, meaning you get transport on all local buses, trams etc as well as entry into many of the museums and attractions in the city and surrounds as well as unlimited Hop on Hop off bus rides for 48 hrs ……. Hoping this will be good value……….. Like we have found all over Europe this year Stockholm is under repair, renovation and construction, there is road works, barriers and large overhead canes every where. We walked the main shopping street down toward the Royal Palace, then after buying our passes at one of the Tourist Info offices we caught the bus back to our place on the small island, it was very cold and rainy, hope for a better day tomorrow…..
